“Who’s that lady with a camera?”

Just Fran.

Messy creative, history nerd, and proud Franma who is absolutely, definitely still in her thirties. In my head anyway. My knees have a very different opinion.

I love old things... old buildings, old stories, old photographs. Probably why I ended up doing this for a living. There's something about knowing that the images I take today might be the ones a grandchild pulls out of a box in fifty years and laughs at, or cries at, or both. That thought genuinely gets me every time.

Off camera I'm a walking contradiction... crystals on the windowsill, tarot cards on the table, tattoos on the arms, and a music taste that makes my kids question every decision I've ever made. I'll go from sea shanties to something that absolutely nobody in this postcode has heard of without a second thought.

At home there's Martyn, my long-suffering partner in crime, who has learned that "I've had an idea..." is his cue to sigh, shake his head, and quietly head to the shed for the impact driver. Resistance has always been futile.

I run on coffee, own a camper van called Bob, and I will never have an early night as long as Jamie Fraser exists. And if you really want to get on my good side... a large glass of Malbec will absolutely do it.

My Approach

The biggest compliment I get from grooms is "I forgot you were there." From brides it's usually something about how calm the day felt. From new parents, that those few hours felt like a chance to just... stop, and be in it. And from families, that it didn't feel like a photoshoot at all.

That's exactly what I'm going for every single time... and after twenty years of doing this, I'd like to think I've got it pretty well figured out.

Whether it's a wedding, a new baby, or kids at an age you want to bottle... I'm there to make it feel easy, and to catch everything that happens while you're not thinking about the camera. Head over to the services pages to see how that looks in practice for each one.

You're in safe hands. I promise.

Fun facts about me

Questionable Photography Choices

I once thought selective colour editing... black and white with just the bouquet in colour... was the height of photography. We don't talk about those days.

Caffeine & Malbec

Coffee gets me through the week. By the weekend, only a large glass of Malbec will do. Cabernet didn't rhyme and Malbec is better anyway.

Period Drama Enthusiast

I can and will binge any period drama going... bonus points for a brooding lead and questionable historical accuracy. I have watched the entirety of Outlander over fifty times. All ten series. I blame Jamie Fraser entirely and I have absolutely no regrets..

Professional Dog Smiler.

If I pass a dog, I will smile at it. If it smiles back, the day is made. Non-negotiable.

Certified Tree Hugger

Bit of a hippy at heart... I'll always stop for a tree, and yes, I fully believe they have good energy.

A Short-Lived Busking Career

I once earned a grand total of 68p for busking in Edinburgh. Least said about that, the better.
